For more than five decades, Robin and Linda Williams have been
among the most enduring and quietly influential voices in American folk an
d roots music. Emerging in the early 1970s, they built a career grounded i
n traditional Appalachian and Southern musical forms while developing a dis
tinctive songwriting voice that has helped define what is now known as Amer
icana. A major part of their national recognition came through frequent ap
pearances on A Prairie Home Companion, where they became longtime favorite
s and regular contributors alongside host Garrison Keillor. Their presence
on the program introduced them to audiences across the country and cemented
