Chainsaw Safety Certification course LEVEL 3 is returning to Cattaraugus County in May 2026! Training will be conducted by Bill Lindloff’s ProCuts through Game of Logging and hosted by CCE Cattaraugus and CCE Wyoming. The session is a full day of hands-on experience and will be held at the Boyce Hill State Forest in Machias, NY. If you have completed Level 2- We are now offering Level 3 on Friday, July 31, 2026! Level 3: Limbing, Bucking, and Difficult Trees Participants will learn the following skills: * Scoring of Chain * Dealing with Lean: Front Lean – use of the controlled release technique; Back Lean – use of wedges and shims; Side Lean – aiming the hinge to compensate for lean. * Limbing Plan: Overhead hazards; Hazards on the ground; Did the tree leave stump?; Tensions in stem; Plan of attack * Six-point Limbing Concepts: Keep close; Stem supports weight of saw; Move feet; Slide hand; Use thumb; Plan for working height * Bucking and Limbing Cuts: Top-lock; Limb-lock; Tongue and groove * Felling Difficult and Hung-Up trees Participants are required to bring a chainsaw along with sharpening and maintenance tools.
